Is Your Thankfulness a Gift?

Is your thankfulness a gift?

Sometimes it’s easy to approach thankfulness with a sense of duty. I recognize that God has given me stuff. I see that He’s been at work. I agree that gratitude is important. So, as a “mature” believer in Jesus, I’ll express gratitude.

But do I freely GIVE thanks? Is it out of obligation, or is it out of the overflow of thankfulness?

Do I really recognize all that God has given me? I mean…all of it. Every. Single. Thing.

Giving a gift is a special process. In order to truly give something, it can’t be done out of a sense of obligation. Giving something means making the choice to surrender something freely. To present it voluntarily without expecting anything in return. To turn something over of your own accord.

November is the season of Thanksgiving. But let’s not wait to be asked before sharing what we’re thankful for. Let’s not panic and come up with a couple of things to say around the Thanksgiving table. Let’s take the time to truly give thanks.

Our God is a God who blesses us abundantly!

Let’s give thanks to Him.

Until we Pen again, be thankful in all things for it's the will of God concerning us.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

It's that time of the year where many are excited about receiving and giving gifts. It's also extremely important for Christians who truly understand the reason for this season, to not allow the commercialization of Christmas to take away from the Greatest Gift that was birthed into this world.
